ParticipantNewbie here and just received my 2012 Equinox. I have a Zune and iPad. When I plug in the iPad to the USB all works as advertised. My Zune (HD), even though says is compatible, the system says it’s an unsupported device. I went around the internet reading of some of the other users having the same issue but various non-remedies. I noticed that the infotainment system has a software update option and my Zune has the latest firware updates on it … is this something to look into or would the current system have the latest … and where would I get the update if this is an option?
Thanks!

KeymasterWelcome to GM Authority, @bwilson14 !
Since MyLink was just released, the update portal isn’t up yet — as far as I know. It should be up soon, though.
Question regarding the Zune: does the system refuse to do anything entirely or do some features still work? Does it let you do certain functions partially?
Congrats on the ‘Nox!

ParticipantThanks for the response Alex! It refuses to do anything but tell me it’s an unsupported device. I can try to play my playlists/songs but nothing comes across on the stereo.

KeymasterDoes it lock out your Zune when connected or can you still navigate the Zune menus and select tracks in that way?

ParticipantI can still navigate the Zune. It doesn’t lock it out like on the iPad.

KeymasterAh, I see. Does anything play through the speakers when you actually select a song on the Zune itself?
I know it’s not ideal, I’m just trying to see where the problem may be 🙂

Participantno not a thing … the only way I hear anything from the Zune is plugging it into the audio jack 🙂

KeymasterGot it. I’ve sent in a question to GM’s PR team, which should then get with their engineers to bring us an answer. They’re all in LA launching the Spark right now, but they’ll get back to us this week. Sit tight 😀

KeymasterWell, @bwilson — I just heard back from Chevy. They officially don’t support the Zune, which I guess makes sense since it was recently discontinued… But I share your pain, mate.
What do you use for a smartphone?
