      Okay I have been having trouble for a little while now with my 07 HHR. The engine power reduced light has been comin on and losing power. Well I ran diagnostic check and came back throttle position sensor. The problem would seem to go away if I would tap on the side of the sensor so I figured thats what it was so I put a new throttle body on it. The car ran good for a few days then same problem. I got out the car and wiggled the wires that connect to throttle body and it done okay I went outside a few days ago and tried to start and it wont turn over and says engine power reduced engine disabled. Only now the car wont connect to scanner to read code the same scanner I have used on the same car. I am thinkin it may be the plug to the throttle body but not sure if that would make the computer not connect to my scanner. Can someone help please????

      Hey Dustin — sucks that you’re having issues. I’ll do my best to help, and hope others join in as well.

      I’m guessing the problem you’re running into is electrical in nature, since the scanner won’t give you a readout anymore… I’d start by making sure all the wires are connected properly and go from there.

      But I’m curious — does the scanner tell you anything? Does it throw any codes at all?

      The scanner tells me I must connect to vehicle to read codes while its connected to the car. I am goin to check all the fuses today local mechanic told me i could have blown a fuse if the wiring harness shorted out and thanks for the support alex i really hope i can fix the problem sso i have three kids and my wife is using my truck to take them to school so im stuck with no vehicle for work

      Got it. Well, checking the fuses always helps, as does retracing any and all changes you made. Let us know how it goes! 🙂

      I have checked your VIN and I do not show there to be any recalls or programs applicable to your vehicle. Have you been to a dealership to see if they can pinpoint the concerns?

      The average person cannot afford the dealer. They charge confiscatory prices, $75 + per hour. A releative took her car to the dealer because she heard a noise. Day later and she owes them over $1,000 for new brakes. Needless to say she was shocked at how much they charged her.

      @Z15 , Exactly

      @dustin
      , try to take it to a non company-specific independent repair shop, they usually will quote you for free and can confirm a problem. Not to mention they actually charge fair prices.

      @dustin if you do end up taking it to an independent repair shop, make sure it’s certified…

      Dustin,
      Has your problem been resolved? Is sounds like a bad wire connection right at the connector. To check that, all you need is a multitest meter that checks continuity of a conection. Start with the yellow wire place a straight pin diagonally throught the wire insulation about an inch away from the connector until it has contact with the wire. It’s fine if the pin goes through the wire. Now use the meter to check continuity by placing one leed of the tester to the pin and the other to the coresponding leed on the connector. If continuity is present, wiggle the wire, if no change, that is good. Test remaining wires in the same fashion. If no continuity is found the connector harness should be replaced. there is a quick temperary fix. On the wire with the bad connection. Stick the straight pin through the wiring insulation close to the connector pointing the tip toward where the wire inserts the connector. Insert firmly. Good luck.
