Hi all, I’m new to this forum but I’ve got a question. So, I’ve recently installed an EGR delete block off plate in place of my stock EGR valve on a 1996 GMC Sierra. I have NOT done a tune. Initially, I did notice a little bit more pep in the gas pedal but I’ve been doing some researching and I’ve heard that the EGR valve is what tells the ECU to turn on the radiator fan. Hence, removing the EGR valve would cause the fan to stop working. My first question, is this actually the case? Will the fan be non-functional? My next question, is a tune absolutely essential when doing an EGR delete? My next question is, aside from keeping the intake cleaner, what actual benefits are there to an EGR delete? Finally, what kinds of problems will an EGR delete cause for my vehicle where it isn’t tuned?
Vehicle Specs:
1996 GMC Sierra SLE
350 5.7l Vortec
Note:
I’ve got a brand new (3 month old) coolant temp sensor and my stock EGR was also replaced just before the temp sensor.
Any thoughts and ideas are welcome!
