Hi
I am restoring my Dads C20 camper special. He had a big block 71′ 454 engine in it. The engine is not recoverable and I need to put in a new one. The shop that is doing the work is recommending a small block 400 hp & 400 torque engine w/ an overdrive transmission. I am concerned that the engine is not powerful enough. If I want to some day pull a trailer/boat or put a camper on the back too I don’t want to be inching along. I like the smaller engine being more fuel efficient and better for the environment. Not to mention the lesser cost. I don’t want to be in a freakin badass truck that drives like a hair dryer. But I also get that I can’t be whipping around in this truck because of its weight. I would appreciate advise. Thank you
