I’ve been reading about the shudder in the earlier model 8 speed transmissions. I have a ’17 Denali with the 6.2L/8 speed that is shuddering badly when I lightly press the gas to maintain speed while traveling between 35-60 mph. The tachometer also bounces around. It almost feels like my lane departure warning is vibrating my seat, however, this feature is disabled and I can perfectly reproduce the shudder.

Is anyone else having issues with the ’17 model years?

I have seen this on a couple of 6.2 with the 8 speed now, including Yukons and Escalades. Your dealer should have some tool they use to detect where the vibration is coming from. We have now had a couple of these vehicles with the rear diff being the issue.

Adam, I have a ’16 denali with the 6.2 8-speed. I took it in because the shudder was awful, particularly around 25 mph, as well as sometimes “kicking” me when I come to a stop. They test drove it, and of course, saw nothing wrong with the way it drove. When I told them my problem, they said there was nothing they could do about it. If the truck had a decent transmission, I’d love it, but it is pretty bad.

I have a 15 8spd. It only shudders in 1st when I start it after sitting all night. It goes away when warmed up but is annoying as hell!

First time I bought American ride as people mover.

I have z06’s as toys and Toyota/Lexus suv’s as my family cars. i sometimes wish I kept my GX460.
Thank god I still have my 11 yr old 4Runner that has had no repairs in the 8years I have owned it.

I want to love my Denali and for the most part I do, but I unfortunately am used to Toyota legendary reliability.

I have more confidence in driving my 11yr old 4runner across the country than my 15 Yukon Denali. Sad but true! Now the Denali rides better by a country mile.

Warrantys are great but a reliable car beats a reliable warranty imho. I love America so much I am making compromises.

There is a service bulletin on this. The solution is to R & R the transmission fluid and change the filter. GM Dexron HP is the problem IMO. Cheap low bidder fluid.
