The 2024 Chevy Trax with the 1.2L engine (also used in other models) calls for 5-30W oil. But… the 2025 Trax, now calls for 0-20W oil. Why? I believe it is exactly the same engine. Same car, same engine. As a high-reving turbo engine, I want to use 5-30 in the new 2025. But will there be problems? That is, have the valve camshaft actuators been calibrated to the expected oil pressure from a 20 weight oil, which might be different from a 30 weight oil? Any comments? thanks!
I wouldnt change the oil from what is recommended from the factory. Todays engines are oretty critical as far as specs go.
THe motor oil geek is very good to watch on you tube. Lake Speed is probably one of the very best on this subject.
