Planning on driving my 2012 Camaro through the winter here in Alaska. Per tradition, got it some Pirelli Sottozeros for the snow. It drives just fine – no sand bags or any other hacks to make it “more safe” in snow. Its even fun when the rear slides out a bit. I like correcting it when that happens. I think people make too big of a deal about rear wheel drive cars in the snow.
But if it was up to me and I had $20k to spend… a Vue wouldn’t be a bad choice. I also like the first gen Edge and the second gen Escape (during the earlier years of the second gen, I think those can be had for high teens). As much as I hate its blandness I’d also say the Honda CR-V. They’re cheap but as reliable as beer.
