So it came down to the financial aspect… which is understandable. Some Chevy stores hang on to their Equinoxes and only sell them to those who don’t want to negotiate, since they may be in limited supply in their area.

Not yet; it’s a matter of branding. Fact is, people know that “EcoBoost” is associated with Ford — and they know it’s something economical yet peppy.
On top of that, Hyundai and Kia aren’t examples of great marketing or automotive excellence; they’re still playing catch-up, although they’ve done a fine job of it.
