In my opinion I think if GM is going to develop into the Global force they claim to be
They need to squeeze everything they can out of there platforms.
In the case of the Chevrolet Cruze or I should say GM Delta II platform.
Develop a full range of body styles from the get go.
GM Delta II platform Coupe / Convertible / Sedan / Wagon / Hatchback / All-Wheel-Drive
Modified GM Delta II platform for SUVs
Chances are you will sell it in some part of the world.
With all the heavy lifting done from the start it should be cheaper to adapt the Global platform to the different brands.
Just look at what BMW has done with the 3 series.
Anyway that’s just what I think.  🙂
