The squealing is there whenever the brakes are applied just like my very aggressive Cobalt X1 race only brake pads I use on my Corvette with StopTech big brake for track. You hear it most when driving slow in a parking lot or coming to a street stop. There are some very nice high performance brake pads on the market by HAWK, Carbotech and others that do not squeal.
I have Hawk HP SUV pads on my GMC Yukon Denali and use the Carbotech HP pads on my Corvette for street. They stop as fast as you need to stop for street. Race pads are not intended or needed for street when you are not planning on 90-150 MPH braking every 15-20 seconds like is needed for road racing.
