Cadillac and GM only recommend what makes them money. They want a monopoly on what you buy for your vehicles and their owners manuals and propaganda are designed to affect that end. Once I buy the vehicle its mine to do with as I please.
I own a 2009 CTS4 (AWD) (had a 2005 also) since new and I changed out the Mobil 1 out at 2000 miles and went with the AMSOIL 100% synthetic 0W-30. I did the same thing with my winter vehicle, ’12 Sierra Denali. I take my AMSOIL into my dealer and he gladly changes it for me, no questions asked because he knows darn well he would lose me as a new vehicle customer the moment he pushed some GM oil on me.
PS-Used AMSOIL since 1975.
