Yeah, the Edge can get up there in price. But I’m of the opinion that you get what to pay for.
For instance, you can get an EcoBoost Edge with much better materials, push-button start/hands-free entry, the huge moonroof, reclining rear seats, and HIDs — vs. the Theta pair — for right under $40,000. Drop the EcoBoost and some of the luxury options and you’re down to a reasonable $32,000. Even in the base trims, you get a true midsized crossover that feels and drives like one. And that’s not to mention that the current Edge is aging and will be moved to the new Fusion/Mondeo platform in the next 2 years (to market).
Also, we can’t really compare the current portfolio of Lincoln products until the entire line is redesigned and re-engineered by 2016… Until then, all Lincolns are are just badged up Fords with some niceties, which doesn’t reflect the future of the brand.
