@pearlmikejam This is a good question; I ran into this same thing a year or so ago when driving the Equinox.
What it all comes down to is if the vehicle itself is equipped with auto climate control. If it is, then the system will turn to a heating or cooling mode based on the outside temperature. That’s how it’s supposed to work… for me, however, it always defaulted to the climate setting that were present when I shut down the vehicle before starting it.
So I guess the question is whether your Equinox has automatic climate control.
