I have found that the collapsed lifter situation rarely makes any noise. In my case cylinder #6 just stopped working and the pushrod bent falling out of the lifters way. We stoipped the engine almost imediately and towed home. Truck was 3,000km out of warranty but still within 3 years.
Gm’s offer was to pay dealer to dis assemble,then approach GM with paperwork showing oil changes ,services, mileage. IF the General was generous they MAY pay for replacement of 1 lifter,possibly 4 lifters on one bank. No mention of what if the camshaft is damaged.
If GM was not generous $5,000.00 at dealer to repair.
