I’m thinking of buying a new 2024 Silverado double cab 4×4 5.3 L, after using current 2003 Silverado reg cab short bed 5.3 L for over 300k with no note worthy problems. Am appalled by lifter and transmission reports , especially with the trusted name of Allison transmissions.!
How common are these problems; how likely would it be that I would have to deal with it? Since it appears to be a valve assembly problem, what about upgrades or aftermarket? What does the newest service bulletin say? What of the lifters? What else is problematic?
I’m still bitter over 2 Impalas, 1 being my first new car, the other a replacement when my wife was too scared to drive the first because of key rotation failure (while GM was still in denial about), and other issues that GM want to patch with Bazooka Bubble Gum when much better aftermarket parts were available. SOOO MUCH, that I swore (a lot actually) that There would never be another GM CAR in my driveway. I can’t part with the 2000 but the 2010 was replaced with a Subaru. But Trucks Too!!!! What is going on since you took over Ms Berra?!?!?
