@xlguy Last week, I had two Sierras 1500s in my driveway. One was my AT4 with the 6.2L L87 and the other was a Denali with the 3.0L Duramax LZ0 (the “new” one). Obviously, the Sierra is the same as the Yukon, but they do ride on the same platform and have similar size and weight characteristics, along with the exact same powertrains.
In any event, the L87 was very quick and peppy off the line in the same way you’re already familiar with your Yukon currently. The LZ0 was noticeably slower off the line, but picked up quick after that thanks to its massive torque. The difference in off-the-line performance noticeable when the two are driven back to back.
Where the LZ0 truly shines is on the highway, where it purrs and delivers substantially higher real world fuel economy.
