Reply To: 2022 Silverado burning oil in 4000 miles

#809728

I own a 2022 silverado Lt, 2.7 engine. Last oil change was done at the dealer on 2/12/24 along with transmission fuel exchange, transfer case service etc (46265 miles). Last Saturday 4/13/24 I get on vehicle to drive back from work and an engine light comes on: “ENGINE POWER IS REDUCED”. I drive for maybe a block and stop to look up what this means in forums. One indicated that solution was to shut it off for 20 min and it would reset?! So I turn it off, waited 30 min, message was gone, yet engine light remained on. I could not log into onstar to see what code was showing and couldn’t for days. Had them e mail me info. Monday comes, I take it to dealer, they reset it and say they can’t find anything wrong, send me on my way. Light comes back on. i take it back. One week later, they say a different code came up they checked cables etc and noticed the oil was REALLY REALLY LOW! They did an oil change and send me in my way. I am to keep an eye on the oil level. They could not find any leaks , say that maybe a wire was loose and that is why the light for low engine oil didn’t come on?!

Not sure what to make of all this, it has currently 50576 miles (so JUST out of warranty!) so $618 later I am not sure what happened to my truck but hope it doesn’t happen again!
