The ground prong on the AC outlet located in the bed of my truck is electrically the same (zero ohms between them) as the metal bolts on the tailgate.
Any AC outlet with a ground prong should have a valid/functional ground. Them saying it does not have a ground “by design” is a bit ridiculous.
Make sure you’re testing correctly (not meaning to insult your knowledge). The ground prong should be connected to the truck’s ground, not your house AC outlet ground or anything else. Again, not an insult, just making sure we’re on the same page. It’s easy to go astray with a simple misunderstanding.
