Why would Barra, or Aldred for that matter, care if you can’t track your GMC. First, you’re not GM’s customer you’re the Dealer’s customer. Second, GM, and by extension GMC, have no clue about ‘bespoke’ nor do they care to know. By the same token, I don’t think they’d really like you to know how many are bayed in Grand Prairie due to quality issues. It is also not to GM’s benefit for you to know that your order is of no more importance to them than a standard inventory order. Going a step further, they have no interest in your knowing that allocation is allocation…period. If your dealer has placed a “sold” order for you and another dealer, perhaps somewhat larger than the only dealer within 100 miles of you, wants one in the hopes he can sell it, it is very likely your order will not be processed. What does that all say … you’re not GM’s customer. The dealer is GM’s customer. I know of an order that has been in 1100 status for two months now due to ‘allocation’. GM’s answer to that problem? Cancel the order and place it with a higher volume dealer 125 miles away. Do they care? Nope. So if they don’t care about their customer (a dealer), just what makes you think GM would give a hang about you, the eventual owner of the vehicle? Does a lot of good for their brand, yes?
