This DFM Lifter failure frequently occurs – it happened twice on my 2020 Denali 1500. The first time (at 8,800 miles) the pushrod was bent into an “S” shape. GM replaced all the lifters on that bank, and when it happened again at 33,000 miles they replaced all the lifters on the other bank.
Do a search on “GM DFM Lifter Failures” and you will see a lot of information, including a December 2022 class action lawsuit.
