Reply To: Newbie has questions on build process

I’ve had a similar experience to several on these forums. Ordered a single cab, long bed in May of ’22. Order was never accepted and got an email from GM in August of ’22 letting me know that my order could not be fulfilled. They included a $3k credit to apply to a new order or one on the lot (expired 1/1/23).

I contacted my dealer and he was confused, didn’t understand what email I had received, so I forwarded the email. Dealer tells me that it just meant we need to resubmit the order for a ’23 MY. OK, so we did that and here I sit with the order still not being accepted.

At one point, my dealer put the blame on GM saying they aren’t building any single cabs right now. I know the single cab is rarer these days but it’s what makes sense for me and they offer it. I don’t know if my dealer is being straight with me or if they sold me on something knowing they lacked the allocation. I had a different dealer tell me straight up that he wouldn’t order the single cab because the margins are too thin on the WT trim.

Very frustrating process, has anybody else placed an order for a single cab? I can confirm that I was given an order number on the original order as well as the re-order without either being accepted by GM, but agreed that the process could have changed since this summer.
