I wonder: could it be that your daughter’s iPod has the Mass Storage mode/Disk Mode feature turned off, while yours has it turned on? There’s another thread about this right here that suggests turning that off for the iPod to work better with the MyLink/IntelliLink systems.

@cmalagngl from what I understand, GM does with with Apple when developing these systems. I would recommend trying these two things:
1. Try with a new Apple cable.
If that doesn’t work, try:
2. Turning off the Mass Storage mode/Disk mode feature.
