I bought a brand new 2014 Stingray C7, Z51 with LT3 package. I had a 160GB iPod Classic that connected and worked perfectly every time I used it on the car. Then I bought a 2015 C7, Z51 with LT3 package. The very first time I hooked up my iPod Classic to it, it would not recognize it. I tried different things but it would not work. I then read about the advice also included in this forum wherein you follow a certain sequence in connecting the iPod to the vehicle. It worked but not every time.
I then checked my iPod cable and found it frayed in a couple of places. Went to the Apple Store and bought a new cable. I connected the cable to the car and then to the iPod with the car and iPod off. When I cranked up the car and punched the “Media” button, the iPod begin playing immediately. But it wouldn’t work the next time. Again sequencing the connection of the iPod as suggested, worked. But as before, it would not work every time.
Then the solution, which I had not thought about, hit me, literally. While driving off from the dealership, after picking up my new license plates, I heard a loud pop through the speakers and the iPod went dead. Nothing I tried would revive it. It occurred to me that perhaps the problem all along was in the iPod. Sure enough, I asked my daughter to let me borrow her iPod Classic and it worked. And it has been working ever since, regardless of how I sequence the connection. So if this is happening to you, check out your cable. And if that isn’t it, try another iPod Classic in your radio. It is my opinion, that my original iPod was about to go to iPod heaven in the sky and chose to give me strong hints just about the time I bought the 2015 Stingray. I have been playing my daughter’s iPod Classic on it for about 2 months now without a single problem. In case you are wondering about how I got my daughter’s iPod I will tell you. I bought for her about 7 years ago. But she never used that much. So she said I could have it.
So check it out.
