GM wants to steer Pontiac fans to other GM brands? Not likely.
GM hasn’t sold anything that I’ve been interested in since 2018 or so, and that was a Silverado. Once the 2019 trucks came out, my mind was made up. I bought a new Ram, instead. I’m not unhappy about my choice.
My last new GM car was a 2004 Trailblazer. Before that was a 2001 Sonoma. I’ve bought several used GMs (mostly Pontiacs) since then. But nothing new.
As good as it is, the Camaro continues to look like a cartoon of itself. And the Corvette? It’s beautiful, but with all the “market adjustments”, I’ll pass. (No matter…. they already sell all the Corvettes they can build.)
Regarding Pontiac, GM’s major screwup with the GTO, was badging it as a Pontiac, in the first place.
Holden has always been compared to Chevy. Critics said the GTO looked like a Cavalier.
If GM had badged it as a Chevy, and called it a Chevelle SS, they’d probably still be building them, someplace.
