My patience paid off…sort of.

5 Feb 22: (Order Code 1100) Ordered a 2022 Sierra Denali 1500 (summit white) w/6.2L, 4WD, Tech and Reserve pkg.

11 Feb 22: (Code 2000) ORDER ACCEPTED BY GM. Notified by email. Excited to see the progress. (LOL)

20 May 22: (Code 3000) ORDE ACCEPTED BY PRODUCTION CONTROL

20 Jun 22: (Code 3800) ORDER PRODUCED, VIN IS AVAILABLE. (I looked up the VIN and confirmed that the truck really exists)

18 Jul 22: (Code 4B00) ORDER BAYED; VEHICLE IS WAITING ON TRANSPORTATION OR PULLED FOR QUALITY CONTROL. What the heck is this? Aside from the “long” wait, this threw me for a loop, so I called the dealer. Was told by the dealer that this is “normal” and the truck would ship as soon as transportation was available. (Hmmm, considering the state of affairs in the USA…)

18 Aug 22: (Code 4300) INTERMEDIATE DELIVERY. Here’s where things got a little interesting. Apparently, the truck was transported from Ft. Wayne to Birmingham, AL to be “chipped”. So, we (the dealer and I) waited and waited and…waited. No change in status for three additional months. No information whatsoever from ANYONE regarding the status of my order. WTF?!

11/1/22: Received a call from the dealer to let me know that a 2023 model had just arrived onto the lot. Go figure! The ’23 has everything on it that I had ordered on the ’22. Instead of Summit white, it was Tricoat white (I actually like it more than I thought I would). The wheels weren’t the ones I liked, so I had them change them out. The dealer stuck to his promise of pricing the vehicle at MSRP (which was about $3k more than the ’22). I had virtually no bargaining power because, as we all know, if I didn’t accept the vehicle, someone else would have.

In the end, I feel blessed because I didn’t have to accept a one-year-old vehicle that had been “somewhere” on the supply line sitting idle in a parking lot in God knows where. I’ve read too many stories (mostly on this forum) of “issues” with vehicles that sit too long in the elements without being started, only to lead to more issues down the road. So, I was getting a bot nervous…until the ’23 was an option for me. And, I have to admit, the ’23 (although essentially the same vehicle as the ’22) is a sweet ride. I truly like the truck.
