It could be that they are only building LTZ currently?
When I got my new Equinox, the only models they were building at that time was the RS. A 2022 RS designation is not like the past where there were performance upgrades, it is all appearance. I’m sure the markup is higher on an LTZ, just as it is on an RS. I would have preferred an LT with True North package which would have all the same features, minus some appearance items, yet cost $3,000 less. They simply were not building them at the time, only the RS. I do like my RS but prefer regular chrome, not black chrome.
If they can only build some, but not all of the models, it is not surprising that they would build models they can make more money on.
Yeah, the timing issue seems odd for you but if that’s all they were making and you happened to pick color/features that just happened to be rolling off the line, you got the jackpot. Hopefully the dealer can offer more detailed info and not blow smoke up your butt.
