I have a 78,000 mile 2019 Sierra with the 5.3 that is in the Dealership getting a complete engine replacement due to this issue. It had been a great truck until this point with no issues. Suddenly I had a misfire, strange noises and blinking check engine light. Brought immediately to dealer. LIfter had stuck, bent push rod, scored camshaft and allowed filings into engine. They are replacing with a brand new GM engine. GM is paying about half. This truck has been serviced regularly at the dealership with proper oil. This should not happen. These engines if properly maintained shoudl last 200,000 miles. I have been a loyal New GM purchaser since 1988. 13 new vehicles plus a few used. All GM. If GM does not step up further, it will be my last and I will continue to tell the story.

Is there a proper preventative measure for this?
