Hello again JGW.
As I posted before, last February I bought my Wife an RST CREW SHORT BED 4 WD for Valentine’s Day.
So we’ve had it 1 year so far.
I do drive it once in awhile because it’s her’s but this past Christmas we had the big storm here in the Seattle area and I was forced to drive it to work for a solid week in the snow and ice for a few days, then mostly almost dry freeways.
The truck, to put it straight, is the best driving/handling truck we’ve ever had. We’ve previously had a 2008 Silverado 1500 4wd LTZ and a Colorado, which drove lousy.
The 3.0 Diesel Turbo with the 10 speed tranny just flat out rocks. I’m amazed at the power, acceleration and smoothness this pair exhibits. A 10 out of 10. And I’m being honest here. I’m VERY picky uni about our vehicles and the proof is in the pudding, we’re now buying one for me.
Milage is Uber impressive. The 2008 Silverado got combined 12.5 mpg. 18-20 mpg all freeway if the stars aligned.
The RST which get mostly driven around our small town, gets combined 20-21.
On my week of driving it to Seattle on the days the roads were open I was getting 32-34 mpg.
Combined with the snow driving I ended up with 24 mpg combined. Truly excellent results for a full size truck.
And it drove great in the snow, handling just right.
There have been no quality issues with it at all.
So for us it’s diesel all the way, there’s no way I’d want to go back to 12.5 mpg. Just too much money for fuel.
Hope that helps.
Let us know what you decide to go for.
