I got the same mailer a few months back for my 2012 CTS. As someone who has spent a lot of my career working in telecom I knew this was coming. A whole lot of other older devices impacted by this, for example my old Kindle which uses Amazon’s free 3G network. I am probably not going to renew my Onstar this coming June as a result. Not a lot of value in it vs what my smartphone can provide. I do have a new 2022 GMC Sierra on order and I will use it on that as it will have full functionality. I really don’t blame GM on this one as this is a decision by all of the telecom providers. I cannot reasonably expect GM or any other company to go back and do major equipment updates in vehicles that might be approaching 10 plus years old. Technology is moving on at an ever increasing pace, I know I don’t always like it but that’s how it is. Hey I would love to still be using my old Blackberry with real keys too!
