The blower will just not turn on. At all. This happens intermittently at random times. NO air will come out when I start the engine. It never dies when I drive it. This only ever happens when I start the car. It either blows air (and when it does all the controls work fine) — or it doesn’t blow any air at all.
For the past few months, banging on the dash (near the steering wheel, on top of the radio) has caused the blower to come back on, and then it will run fine again for weeks. Until this past weekend when no amount of banging anywhere made any difference.
I’ve had this car at the dealership twice, and had another mechanic check it today. They cannot duplicate the problem, and when they run diagnostics everything checks out fine. The car sat in the garage for 2 days, and when the mechanic started the engine today, the blower came on and worked fine. The last time it was at https://vlc.onl/ the dealership it was literally dead again when I started the engine to drive it home. Unfortunately it was at the end of the day and all mechanics had left for the day. So I drove it home, waited overnight, and the next day it worked again.
What can be done?? I live in the south and it’s summer, so I don’t want to feel at the mercy of this stupid blower that works whenever it wants to. I need reliable air conditioning.
