The tank size is just a value in an ecm table and could be changed, however any non GM changes to your ECM programming will put your warranty in jeopardy. Fuel gauge should work fine but range etc. will all be incorrect. Fuel mileage should be ok as that is likely calculated by injector dwell time and flow rate.
Please let us know if DIC fuel mileage in indeed accurate.
