The most recent overhaul for the CTS-V came for the 2016 model year, which launched the third generation CTS-V. It’s an all-new vehicle altogether that’s much more modern than the 2012-2015 models, particularly when it comes to in-vehicle technology. It’s also larger and more powerful.
There really are no downsides with going with the 2016-2019 model… with the exception of two items: price and the 8-speed auto transmission.
I would take the warranty over getting it at auction… unless you know how to work on the car and have the time to actually do it.
