Thank you for those suggestions.
The dealer replaced the whole gauge /sending unit with the same results.
I believe it is a situation as others have mentioned that the tank is “U” shaped and the gauge drops fast at first and then settles out closer to the bottom of the “U”.
Poorly designed. It’s this attention to detail that frustrates me because these small issues should have been easily picked up at the initial design phase of the vehicle.
