I’m sorry to hear you are having problems with your transmission. I bought my 2014 GMC Sierra new in late 2014. It was a pleasure to drive for around a year (10K miles), then the six-speed started slamming violently. The dealership said it had learned my driving habits and all was well. After 4.5 years and 57K miles, the AFM and transmission work together to be really obnoxious. I have a long 35 mph stretch on my daily commute and AFM tries to activate, lugs badly, and deactivates. The passive exhaust valve squeaks when AFM deactivates, so I experience LURCH, LUG, LUG, SQUEAK! over and over again. If I didn’t have an 84/84K extended warranty, the truck would have been traded by now (hint: not for a new GM). On the other hand, this truck has not yet eaten a water pump–it’s the first truck where I actually had the antifreeze changed on schedule instead of being done with a part replacement. I can’t recall any of the seven new GMs we have owned since 1992 that made it out of factory warranty without eating a water pump or head/manifold/etc. gasket. Given the above, it’s hard for me to say if quality has gotten better or worse over time…
