2 months later update after GM tech “smoothed” my 3-1 tranny gearing..
Still clunking, but now its more pronounced in the 1-2 gear change. GM wont do a thing. Still “a characteristic of the vehicle”.
The dealer tech now acknowledges the issue and have really tried to get info from GM regional techs, but they wont help.
He thinks they just don’t have a solution and dont know what to do so they are being tight lipped.
The big question is will the clunking wear out drive train components over time. I cant imagine it it wont, give the noise and the occasional violent nature of the clunking.
Im considering dumping the truck or trading in for another brand.
I am (was) a loyal GMC owner over 25 years owning 3 trucks. I think I may be done.
