My “throttle-by-wire” car had a similar issue; however, it would keep accelerating then decelerating… “vrooom…. vrooom…. vrooom…”. Like it wanted to race the care next to me.
First time it happened, I was in a drive- through… while trying to figure out what was happening, I put the car in park…. the manager came out to ask me “what my problem was…” (thinking I was being a jerk). I got out of the car, and it sat there by itself in park. — Vroom… vroom… vroom…! I turned the key off, and restarted – it was fine for about a week.
Next, it happened in stop & go traffic… typical of an intermittent problem, the dealer couldn’t do anything.
It finally happened in my own driveway, and I let it just sit there… vroom… vroom… until someone from the dealer showed up… they were too afraid to drive it, and towed it away.
After roughly 3 months and lots of arguments, the dealer took the car back.
My next car did not have “drive by wire”…
