“I come up to a red light and the light turns green and I take off, the car slams into gear and rocks us.”

Not sure if the dealer mentioned this, but could the Auto-Stop be a factor in the above symptom? I too have a 2017 LaCrosse and noticed similar but figured a way around it.

The auto-stop cannot be disabled, as far as I know. It will cause a bit of a ‘jerk’ when you try to quickly accelerate from a full stop with the engine off. To minimize it, or to negate the auto-stop all together, I will slightly lift pressure on the break pedal and the engine will start back up prior to when I am ready to actually start moving. Then, when I am ready to go, it is already running and it moves like a regular, non Auto-Stop equipped car would. No ‘jolt/jerk’ into motion.

“… it seem to shift a lot up and down when I drive it slow between 0-40 mph.”

I have noticed this as well, but I don’t have as much time in mine yet to determine what could be causing the feeling of a lot of shifting. The transmission is supposed to be an 8-speed and I have no idea when the transmission is set to shift at what intervals. Off the top, an option may be to switch to M1 and try using the steering wheel paddle shifters. I have not tried this, though. The feeling of the occasional shifting isn’t enough to persuade me, yet.
