This is the same stance any billion dollar company would take with regards to this issue. Firstly you purchased a remanufactured engine. There is a reason remanufactured engines are considerably less expensive, That block could have had 100,000 miles on it before the rebuild. Secondly, the warranty was up. A 3 year warranty is fairly standard warranty length. Whether the engine had died 10 years after the end of the warranty of 10 hours after, the warranty was over. Plain and simple.
