Not sure if this is completely on topic but I can’t find another blog it fits.
I have a similar problem. Just purchased a 2016 Suburban. The GM salesman was adamant that I could just plug in my iPhone 6s with an Apple USB cord, and Apple CarPlay would do wonders with my music collection and Apple Music service.
Not so much!!
Several hours with many Apple support techs and 2 visits to the dealer have produced no suggestions or results. According to all of them, everything is fine and it should work.
Each time I plug the phone in, the system tries to boot up the Apple interface. Lasts for about 15 seconds and shuts off my truck system to begin rebooting again. Just keeps rebooting over and over, and never actually works. The wireless interface works ok for music except no CarPlay. Also no playlists or controls.
Apple tells me Carplay needs to be set up in the truck but no one can tell me how to actually do it. Apple tells me to have the truck running, plug in the phone, hit home on the phone, ask Siri what I need over the truck system. Great so far except Siri just responds that it can’t search the Internet while in the vehicle, and then the stereo shuts down.
I’ve tried another iPhone in the truck with the same result. I’ve tried my phone in another person’s Honda and my phone and Carplay worked immediately.
Getting pretty frustrated. I’m out of ideas and help. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
