Expectations
We expect the 2025 GMC Yukon XL to get the following changes and updates:
- Model line
- Carry-over of trim level range, including SLE, SLT, AT4, Denali and Denali Ultimate trims
- There is a possibility, however, that the SLE and SLT trims will be replaced by a new Elevation and Elevation Premium trims, per the new GMC Y-trim level strategy
- Exterior
- New front fascia
- New rear fascia and tail lights
- New roof-mounted communications antenna fin with 5G capability
- New wheel options, including a new 24-inch wheels option
- Interior
- Overhauled cockpit, with new a new, larger infotainment screen and a revised center stack on non-Denali models
- Denali models expected to continue with interior similar to that of current, pre-refresh models
- Powertrain
- New 3.0L LZ0 turbodiesel Duramax engine to replace the 3.0L LM2 Duramax diesel
- The new LZ0 delivers more power and torque, while fixing some refinement issues, most notably the long crank issue; see how the two compare at this link: LZ0 vs LM2
- Notably, the 2025 Yukon XL AT4 will be offered with the “Baby Duramax” LZ0 engine; by comparison, the 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024 Yukon XL did not offer the AT4 trim with a diesel option since the engine didn’t fit with the “high-cut” front fascia of the AT4
Model Line
The 2025 GMC Yukon XL will be offered as an extended-length full-size five-door SUV across the following trim levels:
- SLE
- SLT
- Possible replacement of SLE and SLT with Elevation
- AT4
- Denali
- Denali Ultimate
However, as we mentioned earlier, it’s possible that SLE and SLT will be replaced by Elevation and Elevation Premium, respectively.
2WD models carry product code TC10906 while 4WD models are labeled TK10906.
The Yukon range is offered in two body styles – the regular-length model called Yukon, and the extended-length variant called Yukon XL, which features more interior space, particularly in the third row and cargo area.
This page is about the extended-length GMC Yukon XL. For information about the shorter Yukon, please see this page: 2025 GMC Yukon.
Powertrain
The 2025 GMC Yukon XL carries over the two gasoline engines from the 2021-2024 models, while replacing the 3.0L LM2 turbo-diesel baby Duramax engine with its second-generation counterpart, the LZ0.

The 2025 Yukon XL will continue to be offered in three seating configurations, seating either nine, eight, or seven passengers.
- Nine-passenger configuration (3-3-3): only available on the SLE, this setup features a front 40/20/40 split bench seat in the front row (providing seating for three), along with a bench seat in the second row (seating three) and a bench seat in the third row (also seating three).
