The 2024 GMC Yukon XL represents the fourth model year of the fifth-generation extended-length full-size SUV, for which it receives a handful of minor changes.
These changes follow the 2021 Yukon XL, which received a complete overhaul (re-engineering and redesign), followed by minor changes to the 2022 Yukon XL and 2023 Yukon XL. The 2025 Yukon XL will receive the much-anticipated midcycle refresh.

The Yukon range is offered in two body styles – the regular-length Yukon, and the extended-length Yukon XL, which features more interior space, particularly in the third row and cargo area.

Changes, Updates, New Features

Production
Production of the 2024 GMC Yukon XL is scheduled to begin in November 2023 and is expected to end roughly a year later to make room for the fully-refreshed 2025 model. The Yukon is produced at the GM Arlington plant in Texas, United States.
Platform
Like all fifth-generation Yukons, the 2024 GMC Yukon continues to ride on the GM T1 platform. Otherwise known as GMT-T1 or T1XX, the architecture is designed for pickup trucks and body-on-frame SUVs.
Seating
The 2024 Yukon XL is offered in three seating configurations, seating either nine, eight, or seven passengers.
- Nine-passenger configuration (3-3-3): only available on the SLE, this setup features a front 40/20/40 split bench seat in the front row (providing seating for three), along with a bench seat in the second row (seating three) and a bench seat in the third row (also seating three).
- Eight-passenger configuration (2-3-3): available on most trims, this setup features front bucket seats (providing seating for two), along with a bench seat in the second row (seating three) and a bench seat in the third row (also seating three).
- Seven-passenger configuration (2-2-3):Â available on most trims, this setup features front bucket seats (providing seating for two), along with captain’s chairs in the second row (seating two) and a bench seat in the third row (seating three).
Beyond 2024
We expect the fifth-generation Yukon, including the Yukon XL, to remain in production through at least the 2027 model year, and an all-new, next-generation Yukon XLÂ to launch after the 2027 model year.
