The 2017 GMC Terrain receives several small changes and updates that include a new color, wheels, and appearance package.
We originally believed that the 2017 GMC Terrain would usher in a completely overhauled (redesigned and re-engineered) version of the Terrain. However, we now believe that the all-new, second-gen Terrain will launch for the 2018 model year as the 2018 GMC Terrain. The all-new model will ride on GM’s new D2 platform and have slightly smaller exterior dimensions than the 2010-2017 Terrain.
Following is speculative and unconfirmed information about the 2017 GMC Terrain. This page is a continuous work-in-progress and will be updated on a regular basis as we await official details from General Motors and GMC.

The 2017 GMC Terrain replaces the Iridium Metallic exterior color with the new Graphite Gray Metallic. In addition, the 2017 Terrain does deletes two sets of wheels — the 17-inch aluminum (RTN) and 19-inch chrome-clad aluminum (RBM). In their place is a new set of 18-inch aluminum wheels with gloss black accents (RRT) as part of the new Nightfall Package.
The 2017 GMC Terrain Nightfall package is essentially a black-out option that includes:
- Charcoal grille with gloss Black surround and accents
- Black front and rear fascia accents with gloss Black rear license plate trim
- Body-color door handles
- Charcoal luggage rails
- Outside heated power-adjustable and gloss black manual-folding mirrors
- 18″ x 7.0″ (45.7 cm x 17.8 cm) aluminum wheels with gloss black accents
