For the 2016 model year, GMC is giving its popular Terrain compact crossover a slight refresh meant to keep the vehicle competitive and maintain interest in the model. The updates come just one model year before the all-new, 2017 GMC Terrain comes to market on GM’s new D2XX platform.
The updates to the 2016 Terrain coincide with those for its platform mate, the 2016 Chevy Equinox.
Here is some information we’ve gathered about the 2016 Terrain. This page is a continuous work-in-progress and will be updated on a regular basis as we await any official details from General Motors and GMC.
Unveiled at the 2015 New York International Auto Show, we expect the 2016 GMC Terrain to feature the following updates:
- Revised front bumper styling
- Revised rear bumper styling
- Revised interior trim level configurations
- New wheel choices
We expect this information to become available in the summer of 2015 and will update this section then.
The 2016 GMC Terrain continues to utilize the long-wheelbase version of GM’s Theta platform.
The 2016 GMC Terrain continues to be offered with two GM engines, a four- and a six-cylinder:
- Base engine: 2.4L I4 LEA
- Optional engine: 3.6L V6 LFX
