2025 GMC Sierra 2500 HD Updates, Changes, New Features

The 2025 GMC Sierra 2500 HD receives a variety of small changes for the sixth model year of the heavy-duty truck’s fourth generation.

These changes follow the 2020 Sierra 2500 HD, which received a complete overhaul (re-engineering and redesign) and launched the fourth-gen model, followed by a mid-cycle refresh for the 2024 Sierra 2500 HD.

Model Line

No changes. The trim level structure carries over from the 2024 model year:

  • Pro (1SA)
  • SLE (3SA)
  • SLT (4SA)
  • AT4 (4SB)
  • AT4X (4SG)
  • Denali (5SA)
  • Denali Ultimate (5SB)

Exterior

  • Spray-on Bedliner (CGN) now features the GMC logo on the back wall on AT4, AT4X, Denali and Denali Ultimate
    • For the 2024 model year, the logo included on the back wall was trim specific:
      • AT4 logo on AT4 trim
      • AT4X logo on AT4X trim
      • Denali logo on Denali and Denali Ultimate trims
  • MultiPro Tailgate is now optional on the SLE trim (QK2)
    • For the 2024 model year, the MultiPro tailgate was standard on the SLE trim, with the “regular” Standard tailgate (QK2) being optional
    • For the 2025 model year, the Standard tailgate (QK2) becomes standard on the SLE trim
  • Addition of 20-inch Bright face wheels with dark painted pockets (Q7J)
  • Deletion of three wheel options:
    • 20-inch machined aluminum wheel with bright Silver accents (Q7R)
    • 20-inch multi-dimensional Chrome aluminum wheels (SKW)
    • 20-inch Chrome aluminum wheels (SHL)
  • Deletion of Redwood Metallic exterior color (G48)

  • Rear Park Assist (UD7) deleted and replaced by Front and Rear Park Assist (UD5) on Pro and SLE
    • For the 2024 model year, UD7 was optional on Pro and SLE, while UD5 was optional on SLT and standard on AT4, AT4X, Denali, Denali Ultimate
    • For the 2025 model year, UD5 is optional on Pro, SLE and SLT, and standard on AT4, AT4X, Denali, Denali Ultimate
  • Box Delete option (ZW9) removed from SLT Crew Cab models
    • For the 2024 model year, this option was available for a brief period of time

Interior

  • Cruise Control (K34) is now standard on Pro
    • For the 2024 model year, this feature was optional on the Pro trim and standard on SLE, SLT, and AT4
  • Adaptive Cruise Control (KSG) is now standard on AT4 and Denali
    • For the 2024 model year, this feature was optional on both trims
    • Feature remains standard on AT4X and Denali Ultimate
  • Trailer Brake Controller (JL1) is now standard on Pro
    • For the 2024 model year, this feature was optional on the Pro trim

Mechanical

  • Addition of Universal Vehicle Module (KGU)
    • This feature enables CAN readability of selected messages utilizing SAE J1939 formatting, offering 10-switchable inputs and outputs, and includes a graphical user interface to customize specific needs with more than 150 operating parameters available to read.
    • Available on all trim levels.
  • 120-volt power outlet within the instrument panel (KI4) is now standard on SLE
    • For the 2024 model year, this feature was optional on the SLE trim
  • 120-volt bed-mounted power outlet (KC9) is now standard on SLE
    • For the 2024 model year, this feature was optional on the SLE trim
  • Power Take-Off (PTO) eliminated from RWD models
    • For the 2024 model year, this feature was available on 2WD and 4WD models alike
    • Availability remains limited to Pro and SLE trim levels
  • E85 fuel capability (FHS) removed from Regular Cab models
    • For the 2024 model year, this feature was available on Regular Cab models with the naturally-aspirated 6.6L V8 L8T engine (gasoline) and trailer brake controller (JL1); it was not available with the pickup box delete option (ZW9)
