2025 GMC Sierra 1500 Changes, Updates, New Features

The 2025 GMC Sierra 1500 receives a variety of small changes for the seventh model year of the full-size, half-ton truck’s fourth generation.

These changes follow the 2019 Sierra 1500, which received a complete overhaul (re-engineering and redesign) and launched the fourth-gen model, followed by a mid-cycle refresh for the 2022.5 Sierra 1500, along with small changes to the 2023 Sierra 1500 and the 2024 Sierra 1500.

Model Line

  • No changes

The trim level structure carries over from the 2024 model year:

  • Regular Cab, Double Cab and Crew Cab
    • Pro (1SA)
  • Double Cab and Crew Cab
    • SLE (3SA)
    • Elevation (3VL / 3SB)
  • Crew Cab
    • SLT (4SA)
    • AT4 (4SB)
    • AT4X (4SG)
    • Denali (5SA)
    • Denali Ultimate (5SB)

Exterior

  • Deletion of two exterior colors:
    • Dynamic Blue Metallic (GLT)
    • Deep Bronze Metallic (GXN)

  • Change in the availability of tire options on AT4:
    • LT275/65R18C blackwall Goodyear Wrangler Territory Mud Terrain (MT) tires now optional on AT4
      • For the 2024 model year, this tire was standard on AT4
      • For the 2025 model year, 275/60R20 Bridgestone Dueler All-Terrain blackwall tires become standard on AT4
        • For the 2024 model year, this tire was optional on AT4
    • Spare 255/80R17SL all-season blackwall tire is now standard on AT4
      • For the 2024 model year, 265/70R17 was the standard spare on AT4
      • Spare 265/70R17SL all-season blackwall tire is now optional on AT4
  • Change in the availability of wheel options on AT4:
    • 20-inch machined aluminum wheels with Carbon Grey Metallic accents (NZH) now standard on AT4
      • These wheels ship with the Bridgestone Dueler All-Terrain tires
      • For the 2024 model year, these wheels were optional on the AT4
    • 18-inch machined aluminum wheels with dark painted pockets (57N) now optional on AT4
      • These wheels ship with the Goodyear Wrangler Territory Mud-Terrain tires
      • For the 2024 model year, these wheels were standard on the AT4
  • Addition of 22-inch Bright split-spoke wheels (LPO SFU)
    • Available only on SLT and Denali
  • “Standard” tailgate (QK1) is now standard on SLE and Elevation
    • For the 2024 model year, the standard tailgate (QK1) was available as an option because MultiPro Tailgate (QK2) was standard on these trims
    • Consequently, the MultiPro Tailgate (QK2) is now optional on SLE and Elevation

  • Spray-on Bedliner (CGN) will have GMC logo on back wall on AT4, AT4X, Denali and Denali Ultimate
    • For the 2024 model year, the logo included on the back wall was trim specific:
      • AT4 logo on AT4 trim
      • AT4X logo on AT4X trim
      • Denali logo on Denali and Denali Ultimate trims

Interior

  • No changes

Mechanical

  • Change in availability of two transmission options:
    • 10-speed automatic transmission (MI2) now requires 4WD on the Crew Cab model with Pro trim
      • For the 2024 model year, 10-speed automatic transmission (MI2) was available with 2WD or 4WD
      • Regardless of model year, the MI2 transmission is included and only available with Police Pursuit Package (9C1), Special Services Package (5W4) or E85 FlexFuel capability (FHS)
    • 10-speed automatic transmission (MQB) now requires 4WD on Elevation and SLT trims with with bench seat
      • For the 2024 model year, 10-speed automatic transmission (MQB) was available on 2WD or 4WD
      • For both 2024 and 2025 model years, the MQB transmission is one of two transmissions used in conjunction with the 3.0L I6 LZ0 turbodiesel Duramax engine
        • The other transmission used in conjunction with the LZ0 is the 10-speed automatic (MQC), which has Electronic Transmission Range Selector (ETRS) and paddle shifters, both features that the MQB lacks
  • E85 FlexFuel capable (FHS) now requires 4WD on Crew Cabs with Pro trim
    • For the 2024 model year, E85 FlexFuel capability (FHS) did not require 4WD, and was available with either 2WD or 4WD
    • Requires:
      • Fleet or Government sales order
      • 4WD Crew Cab model
      • 5.3L EcoTec3 V8 L84 engine
      • Trailer brake controller (JL1)
    • Not available with:
      • 1SA Safety Plus Package (PQA)
    • Selecting FHS deletes automatic engine stop/start (KL9)
  • Addition of Universal Vehicle Module (KGU)
    • The Universal Vehicle Module enables CAN readability of selected messages utilizing SAE J1939 formatting, offering 10-switchable inputs and outputs, and includes a graphical user interface to customize specific needs with more than 150 operating parameters available to read.
    • Available only on the Pro trim level

Driver Assist Technology

  • Super Cruise (UKL) is now standard on Denali Ultimate
    • For the 2024 model year, Super Cruise was optional Denali Ultimate
    • Super Cruise remains optional on non-Ultimate 2025 Sierra Denali 1500
  • Cruise Control (K34) now standard on Pro
    • For the 2024 model year, Cruise Control (K34) was optional on this trim
  • Trailer brake controller (JL1) now standard on SLE, Elevation and SLT trims
    • For the 2024 model year, trailer brake controller was optional on these trims

Packages

  • No changes
