2024 GMC Sierra 3500 HD Chassis Cab

The 2024 GMC Sierra 3500 HD Chassis Cab (CC) receives a mid-cycle refresh for the fifth model year of the fourth generation heavy duty chassis cab truck.

This refresh follows the 2020 Sierra 3500 HD, which received a complete overhaul (redesign and re-engineering), followed by a few small changes and updates to the 2021 Sierra HD, 2022 Sierra HD and the 2023 Sierra HD.

The 2024 Sierra 3500 HD CC receives a mid-cycle refresh that includes a new front end design, a new cockpit (only on the SLE trim), and powertrain updates.

Powertrain

The 2024 GMC Sierra 3500 HD CC introduces a more potent turbo-diesel Duramax engine, while replacing the six-speed automatic transmission with a 10-speed transmission on models with the 6.6L V8 gasoline engine.

Production

Production of the 2024 GMC Sierra 3500 HD CC began on March 1st, 2023 and ended on July 26th, 2024 to make way for the 2025 model. The truck is produced at the GM Flint plant in Michigan.

Platform

The 2024 3500 Sierra HD CC continues to ride on a heavy duty variant of the GM T1 platform. Otherwise known as GMT-T1 or T1XX, the architecture is designed for pickup trucks and body-on-frame SUVs.

Seating

The 2024 Sierra 3500 HD CC is offered in three seating configurations, seating either three, five or six passengers.

  • Three-passenger configuration: this setup features a front 40/20/40 split bench seat (providing seating for three)
    • Exclusive to Regular Cab models
  • Five-passenger configuration (2-3): this setup features bucket seats in the front row (providing seating for two), along with a 60/40 bench seat in the second row (seating three), resulting in a 2-3 seating configuration
    • Available on SLE
  • Six-passenger configuration: this setup features a 40/20/40 split bench seat in the front row (providing seating for three), along with a 60/40 bench seat in the second row (seating three), resulting in a 3-3 seating configuration
    • Standard on Pro and SLE

Beyond 2024

We expect the fourth-generation Sierra 3500 HD CC to remain in production through the 2027 model year, at which point it will be overhauled for a new generation.
