2024 GMC Sierra 1500

The 2024 GMC Sierra 1500 represents the sixth model year of the fifth-generation full-size light duty pickup, for which it receives minor changes.

These changes follow the 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 (technically 2022.5 model year), which received a mid-cycle refresh, followed by minor changes to the 2023 GMC Sierra 1500.

Changes, Updates, New Features

The 2024 GMC Sierra 1500 sees only minor changes such as the replacement of two exterior colors, replacement of two wheel options, and changes in the availability of one engine option.

Production

Production of the 2024 GMC Sierra 1500 began on July 17th, 2023 and ended in August 2024, specifically August 18th for the Regular Cab and August 23rd for Double Cab and Crew Cab). The truck is produced at the GM Fort Wayne plant in Indiana and GM Silao plant in Mexico.

Platform

Like all units of the fifth generation Sierra 1500, the 2024 GMC Sierra 1500 continues to ride on the GM T1 platform shared with the Chevrolet Silverado 1500.

Seating

The 2024 GMC Sierra 1500 is offered in four seating configurations, seating either two, three, five, or six passengers.

  • Two-passenger configuration: available only on the Pro models, this setup features front bucket seats, providing seating for two.
  • Three-passenger configuration: available only on the Pro models, this setup features a front 40/20/40 bench seat, providing seating for three.
  • Five-passenger configuration: available only on Elevation, SLT, AT4, AT4X, Denali and Denali Ultimate models, this setup features front bucket seats (providing seating for two), along with a bench seat in the rear (seating three), resulting in a 2-3 seating configuration.
  • Six-passenger configuration: available only on Pro, SLE, SLT, and Elevation models, this setup features a front 40/20/40 bench seat (providing seating for three), along with a bench seat in the rear (seating three), resulting in a 3-3 seating configuration.

Beyond 2024

We expect the current, fifth-generation Sierra to remain in production through at least the 2026 model year, after which point it’s expected to receive an overhaul (redesign and re-engineering).
