2021 GMC Savana Changes, Updates, New Features

The 2021 GMC Savana receives several updates and changes, which vary by model.

2021 GMC Savana Cargo Changes, Updates, New Features

Exterior

  • Deletion of three exterior color options
    • Marine Blue Metallic
    • Dark Sky Metallic
    • Doeskin Tan
  • Deletion of unique key option for side cargo and rear doors
  • Deletion of rear body-colored halo, which replaced the standard Black panel located above rear tail lamps

Interior

  • Deletion of Red seat belt option
  • Deletion of audio system with navigation
  • Deletion of rear auxiliary heater
  • Deletion of GM Commercial Link
  • Deletion of Smoker’s Package, which included an ashtray and lighter

Mechanical

  • Deletion of two engine options
  • Addition of 6.6-liter L8T V8 engine option
    • Rated at 401 horsepower and 464 lb-ft of torque
    • G3500 Extended Wheelbase RWD models (CG33705) equipped with this engine option will receive a 9900-pound GVWR (Gross Vehicle Weight Rating)
  • Models equipped with the 4.3-liter LV1 V6 engine option see GCWR (Gross Combined Weight Rating) increase to 15,000 pounds

Packages

  • The following packages now include the newly-added 6.6-liter L8T V8 engine option as well as one year of OnStar Vehicle Insights service
    • Communications Package
    • Safety Package
    • Enhanced Convenience Package

Exterior

  • Deletion of three exterior color options
    • Marine Blue Metallic
    • Dark Sky Metallic
    • Doeskin Tan

Interior

  • Deletion of Red and Black seat belt options
  • Deletion of temporary driver seat option
  • Deletion of audio system with navigation
  • Deletion of rear auxiliary heater
  • Deletion of GM Commercial Link
  • Deletion of unique key option for side cargo and rear doors
  • Deletion of Smoker’s Package, which included an ashtray and lighter
  • Deletion of Commercial Upfitter circuits, which included
    • x2 30-amp circuits
    • x4 blunt cut wires for upfitter to install remote door locks/unlock switch
    • Required power door lock option

Mechanical

  • 159-inch wheel base 1WT models (-33803) now have the new 6.6-liter gas V8 engine as standard equipment
    • For the 2020 model year, these models featured the 6.0-liter Vortec L96 V8 was the standard engine
  • Deletion of 10,000 lb. (4536 kg) GVWR option
    • Required dual rear wheel configuration
    • Was not available with RV Package or single rear wheel combination
  • Models equipped with the 4.3-liter LV1 V6 engine option see GCWR (Gross Combined Weight Rating) increase to 15,000 pounds
    • For the 2020 model year, such models received a GCWR of 10,000 pounds
  • 139-inch wheel base models (G33503) are no longer available with 10,100-pound (4581 kg) GVWR (JFF) when ordered with 4.3-liter LV1 V6 engine
  • 12,300 lb. GVWR (C7N) now includes 4.10 axle ratio and 20,000 lb. GCWR when ordered with the 6.6-liter L8T V8 engine and Enhanced Towing Performance Package options
