Expectations
Expected to launch for the 2026 model year, the Yukon EV will bring the long-standing Yukon nameplate into the EV era.
The model will ride on the EV-dedicated BT1 platform and will likely be assembled at the GM Factory Zero plant (née GM Detroit-Hamtramck plant) with battery components coming from a currently-unknown GM Ultium Cells facility.
The Yukon EV is expected to be available in two body styles – the regular-length Yukon EV and extended-length Yukon XL EV. Both models will feature three rows of seating and will be more spacious than the current internal combustion engined Yukon and Yukon XL thanks to a longer wheelbase.
The U.S. and Canada are expected to be the primary markets for the first-gen model, though it will also be available in select export markets.
Renderings
In April 2024, GM Authority rendered the GMC Yukon EV in extended-length form, thereby being the first to imagine the Yukon XL EV.
The renderings use the GMC Sierra EV as the basis, while extending the passenger compartment to fit three rows of seats and a healthy cargo area.
