GMC All Terrain – sometimes stylized as All-Terrain – was the precursor to the AT4 sub-brand, and demonstrated the automaker’s off-roading competencies in the form of add-on packages and model trim levels.
The All Terrain moniker first appeared with the arrival of the 2007 GMC Sierra 1500, which was the first model year for the second-generation pickup truck. The GMC Sierra All Terrain HD Concept would debut later in 2011, and the sub-brand would eventually reach most other GMC models. Notably, the All Terrain nameplate was never paired with the Terrain crossover, Yukon SUV, or Savana van.

The Sierra 1500 All Terrain model received all-new styling for the 2014 model year, when the third-generation model entered the market. New additions to the package included front tow hooks, hill descent control, a transfer case shield, and a “carbon fiber-look seat accent” for SLT models equipped with the package.
In 2016 GMC announced the arrival of the Sierra All Terrain X, which was a special edition of the All Terrain model that featured exclusive premium content that enhanced off-road capability and provided an aggressive, monochromatic appearance.
When the current, fourth-generation Sierra 1500 model arrived for the 2019 model year (see 2019 GMC Sierra 1500 details), the All Terrain package was discontinued and replaced by the AT4 trim level, which offered customers the same off-roading competencies and bold appearance that were associate with the All Terrain sub-brand.
